Substance abuse treatment

• Even with this widespread need for professional addiction treatment, far too few Louisiana residents received the help they needed for a substance use disorder. On average, between 2010 and 2014:
• In Louisiana, about 7.1% of people receive treatment out of the huge number who were dependent on alcohol.
• In the total number of people who abuse or are dependent on illicit drugs, only 16.6 percent of them were receiving treatment
• For substance use disorder nearly 10,515 people received treatment in 2015.
