The Shoulder is a faith-based, not-for-profit, CARF Accredited residential treatment facility originally established in 1988. Located across the bay from Mobile in Spanish Fort, Alabama the residential program is only available to men 18 and older and offers individual and group therapy, introduction to the 12 steps, and relapse prevention methods. Counselors will focus on recovery as a process of restoring the broken harmony of the mind, body, and spirit existing in people with addictive problems. The addictive disease is further viewed as a family disease. It is the goal of The Shoulder to restore entire families to wholeness, not just addicted individuals. The Shoulder is convinced that healthy families result in healthier communities.
